If you’ve been around my blog over the past few weeks, you’ll know that I absolutely adored Lena Coakley’s Worlds of Ink and Shadow. (Read my review here!) So, when I heard that there was going to be a book launch for it here in Toronto, I immediately marked it into my calendar. The launch was so beautiful that I thought I’d share a few pictures of the event with you here!
The launch was at Ben McNally Books on Bay Street, an independent bookstore that I had never been to before (shameful, I know). It’s gorgeous — look at the photo above! It was spacious, tidy, and full of friendly staff members. When it came to the launch, they pulled out all the stops. They had a table in the back with tea and scones for attendees; it was a bookworm’s dream come true.
After a bit of mingling, munching, and an introduction by Lena’s Canadian editor Jane, Lena Coakley read an excerpt from Worlds of Ink and Shadow. There were lots of laughs and enthusiasm from the crowd! It was so lovely to be in a group of such passionate readers.
Worlds of Ink and Shadow debuted at #1 on the Globe and Mail bestsellers list! Here’s Lena Coakley reacting to the news. (I love that her outfit included a bonnet!)

After the reading I was able to fawn over the book while Lena signed my copy. Worlds of Ink and Shadow re-ignited my curiosity about the Brontës and I have her to thank for it.
This wasn’t a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon, if I do say so myself!
Have you attended any book events recently? Have you read Worlds of Ink and Shadow?
I saw this on your Instagram! I haven’t read it yet, but I’m definitely going to add it to my TBR 🙂
Haha yes! I can’t stop spreading the love on all of my social media platforms. I can’t wait to hear what you think of it!
What a beautiful book store – and the perfect place for a book launch!
Isn’t it gorgeous? Now that I know where to find it, I’m going to make it one of my bookstore stops!
The tea, scones, and bonnets all sound like so much fun! What a cool author event 🙂
